I read the report, 'Junk mail goes to HDB doorsteps' (Jan3).
If the authorities do not do something soon to stop this form of advertising, our years of effort in keeping Singapore litter-free will be wasted.
Just consider the unsightly fliers strewn all over the doorways of Housing Board flats as well as the letter-box area.
The accumulation of junk mail at the entrance of one's flat could also invite break-ins, as it is a telltale sign to potential thieves that the occupants are away.
Thus, apart from the litter problem, our security is also at stake. This would be a worry for my family whenever we plan to go on a holiday.
The distribution of fliers to one's doorstep should not be allowed or encouraged. I hope the authorities will act soon to stop such junk mail.
